Following 687 days of construction, The Egyptian Consortium of Elsewedy Electric and The Arab Contractors has announced the completion of Tanzania's Julius Nyerere Hydroelectric Dam's main body construction along the Rufiji River.

The Project progresses towards installing, testing and commissioning (9) hydropower turbines starting in 2023, realizing a Tanzania's dream since the 1960s and doubling TANESCO’s grid capacity, while controlling floods and providing all-year round irrigation and fishing.
