Elsewedy Electric showcases ITS expertise at TransMEA 2020

Elsewedy Electric showcased its ITS expertise at TransMEA 2020, the leading exhibition and conference bringing together leaders, Innovators, influencers and visionaries of the transport and logistics industries. The company has been working to support Egypt’s smart high way roads and urban traffic projects as part of its plans to modernize the country’s infrastructure. Over the course of Elsewedy Electric’s 18-month ITS highway roads project, the company will develop the traffic management system (TMS) and toll collection system (TCS) in addition to the main control rooms in the Administrative Capital for Urban Development (ACUD).

During a panel discussion at TransMEA 2020, Elsewedy Electric ITS Business Unit Director Eng. Mahmoud Abdel Sameaa said, phase one of the project, which is already underway on the Shubra-Banha Road, includes six highway roads with totaling 1079 km and 32 tolling gates distributed over these roads.

the company had begun adding electronic toll collection on all gates that link the main roads between governorates for the first time in Egypt in addition to increase the security and safety level over the roads through monitoring and controlling the road sections with different types of sensors.

The project aims to cut travel time, reduce road congestion, reduce dangerous accidents through the latest technology and relevant solutions, reduce fuel consumptions, tracking the movement of vehicles and their distribution, give real time information to the road users, and provide statistics data those used for the development of national projects.
