Elsewedy Electric and Toyota Tsusho to upgrade electricity distribution

Elsewedy Electric, in consortium with Toyota Tsusho, signed a new EPC contract with North Cairo Electricity Distribution Company (NCEDC) worth EGP 1.46 billion. The contract was signed at the Ministry of Electricity in the presence of H.E. Dr. Mohamed Shaker, Minister of Electricity and Energy; H.E. Masaki NOKE, Ambassador of Japan to Egypt; Eng. Gaber El-Desouki, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company; Eng. Ahmed El Sewedy, President & CEO Elsewedy Electric, Eng. Medhat Maher, CEO Elsewedy Electric T & D; Mr. OMURA Yoshifumi, Chief Representative of JICA Egypt Office; and Mr. Hiroki Namikawa, General Manager Energy Infrastructure Project Department, Toyota Tsusho Corporation. The contract includes upgrading and digitizing the electricity distribution network in North Cairo by installing 500,000 smart meters, a distribution management system, an advanced meter infrastructure and remote terminal unit, as well as smart ring link panels. Elsewedy Electric’s scope of work includes engineering, procurement and installation of all components of the project. This project will help upgrade the electricity infrastructure in Egypt to enhance efficiency, mitigate electricity loss and theft, and improve the quality of the network. The project will be implemented over 910 days on a turnkey basis.
