We have long drawn attention to the need for quality technical education in Egypt and the wider region. Not only is there a chronic skills gap, with a disconnect between business needs and the current education system, but technical education suffers from a poor reputation among young people, many of whom are deterred by rising costs. As a result, we founded the Elsewedy Technical Academy (STA) in 2011.
STA provides a three-year, secondary-level technical education in electrical skills to international standards. All our training programs follow the German approach of academic learning combined with training on-site in factories.
Our vision is to establish STA as one of the world’s most outstanding technical education institutions. We aim to create a pool of highly qualified graduates. The inclusion of on-the-job training smooths the transition from the undergraduate environment to the demands of the job market. Facilities include:
- A large campus with ample green space
- Digital-ready classrooms of 16 students
- State-of-the-art laboratories (fluidics and drive, automation, and PLC)
- Conference hall
- Auditorium
- Tablets for distance learning
- Online simulations
- Ergonomically designed desks
- Interactive smart boards
- A digital library
Students can rely on a close mentoring system of highly engaged teachers and supervisors. Based on the success of our first academy, we plan to roll out the concept internationally once we have secured the involvement of another industry partner.
