Elsewedy Electric Cable Accessories Launches the Middle East's First Locally Manufactured 220 kV Cable Accessory System

Elsewedy Electric Cable Accessories has launched its 220 kV High Voltage Cable Accessories System as the only manufacturer in the Middle East producing high-voltage cable accessories locally, marking a transformational milestone that reinforces the company's commitment to local manufacturing, engineering excellence, and regional leadership. The launch drives a new era of self-reliance in critical power infrastructure and reflects years of research, engineering expertise, and investment in advanced manufacturing capabilities, positioning Egypt as a regional hub for high-voltage technology. 

A defining step in this journey was the successful completion of the 220 kV Full Cable System Type Test at the internationally recognized KONČAR High Voltage Laboratory. The system demonstrated full compliance with IEC 62067, the international standard governing extra high voltage cable systems, confirming the performance, reliability, and safety of the complete solution. The tested system was built around major components designed and manufactured locally, including outdoor sealing end terminations with both porcelain and composite insulators, GIS wet-type and dry-type sealing end terminations, and a cross-bonding joint with screen interruption. The solutions have also been officially approved by the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC), demonstrating their readiness to support the country's most demanding transmission projects and strengthening confidence among utilities, consultants, and EPC contractors.
